Picture books, manga, graphic novels — what does an editor do when text is only part of the story?
Whether you’re working with scripts, rough sketches, or nearly final art, even the most visual of stories can be aided by an editor’s sharp eye. Learn how to incorporate art directions in your developmental editing, balance text with art in stylistic editing, and proofread with roughs and finished pieces. This course will teach you how to tackle the art portion of an art-based story with confidence.
No artistic experience is necessary! All you need are your sharp editorial skills and a willingness to think creatively.
Julie Kay-Wallace is an experienced freelance editor, who specializes in editing fiction. Some of her first editing projects were graphic novels — and it’s a genre she still loves working on, over ten years later. Working with artists and the writers who hire them is one of her favourite parts of editing work.
