Knowing the publishing process (A1) and setting and maintaining realistic schedules (A7) are fundamentals all professional editors need, regardless of which stage they are working, according to Editors Canada’s Professional Editorial Standards. This webinar focuses on scheduling the full publication production process—from receiving finalized or approved content, through editing and document formatting, to print or online distribution and promotion. Participants will learn what needs to be considered when creating a production schedule and how to increase the likelihood of the team being able to meet deadlines. The speaker will provide an Excel spreadsheet with formulas to quickly calculate due dates for each stage, as well as online resources to help estimate and track time. This webinar will briefly touch on project management and Agile concepts. If you want to manage the publishing process, you need these skills.
